By allowing the flag to be spread out horizontally over the field, you are in direct violation of the flag code. Over the past few days there have been a lot of posts about the flag code and how many people who claim to be patriotic, including the NFL owners, have been violating that code. Maybe the Chicago bears took the same stance because they were playing in Green Bay and wanted to get out of town safely. Although I was upset over the message being changed by Aaron Rodgers who spoke for the team, I had to consider that Green Bay is an overwhelmingly white-populated city and they were definitely concerned about upsetting their fan base. After a massive protest this past weekend by the entire league, I watched a watered down version last night where the narrative was changed from a protest against police brutality to players locking arms in solidarity of team unity.
All of the races and cultures in the States may have stark contrasts between each other, but we are all equal in our passion that was lit in our hearts the day we learned what it meant to be an American.Everyday there are more debates over the protests by NFL players who choose to take a knee. And if we continue to fight for it, united, we get to keep it. Whether it is against an oppressive government, or against racism and prejudice, Americans know that if we fight for it, united, we will get it. Americans know that the fight is not over, and probably never will be. The whites in this country fought against their oppressors overseas, the blacks in this country fought against their oppressors in the south, but they both fought for their right to call this land their home, and for the freedom that comes with it.
The woman, and black culture in general, is as american as apple pie and football (actual fuckin' football, you goddamn brits), and it shows because the American spirit is founded on the hardships of our ancestors.
People in this thread seem to look at this and see an "anti-America", or an overbearing statement about "oh poor black me whaah". Really does show a stark contrast between the history of black culture vs how it is today, but also serves as a reminder that the struggle isn't completely over with just yet.
